A Biblical error of catastrophic proportions...

So my wife has come up with a great idea to start teaching the kids some Bible verses and has made up the creative fun cards that we leave on the dining table and discuss during meals. For me I'm hoping not only will the kids start to remember them but to also match the words visually to what they're saying and will help them learn to read. (I've been trying to teach Noah how to sound out words so he can start to read the....it's not been as productive as I like but I keep at it hoping the light will come on; he is only 3 right now.) We also work with Noah on some sight words too.

So back to dinner tonight and Noah is repeating the first first that he's memorized:

"As for me and my house, we will server the Lord." - Joshua 24:15

He knows it and can recite word for word. Not bad, he makes his Daddy proud. Next up is the second verse he's working on and he proudly recites it:

"Be kind to one another and chop each other up." 

I almost spit my spoonful of spaghetti all over the table. Melissa and I were laughing too hard to correct him. Yes you read that right he said CHOP each other up. LOL.The verse should say:

"Be kind to one another and build each other up." - 1 Thessalonians 5:11

If you don't think God has a sense of humor, hang around a kid. :) 

And yes we did correct him. Hey, at least he got the be kind part right.

Puzzling puzzles...

Back when Noah was 2, we had gotten a 25 piece Veggie Tales puzzle. He was fascinated by it and we soon learned that our high energy boy would happily sit quietly while working on it. He would do it over and over.
Since then we have gotten him more puzzles to work on and he still loves to do them. We've been letting him do 50 - 60 piece puzzles. Yesterday, I gave him his first 100 piece puzzle. It was pretty challenging being that most of the puzzle was green and blue (frogs, grass, and water). After 2.5 - 3 hrs of intense focus and encouragement, he finished it by himself. He was so happy, and I was so proud of him for not giving up. Guess it's time to find some more puzzles...

Comical Statements Uttered in a Serious Manner

So I haven't updated this blog in a while. Been too busy chasing the little ones to write about them. Noah has reached that age where he is a sponge with vocabulary and is putting phrases and sentences together. Sometimes this results in a comical statement uttered from his lips in the most serious of manners. As these lovable moments arise over the past couple months I've been trying to make mental notes of the things he says. But now I think I'll start documenting them here so I don't forget. Will be fun for the kids to see when they're older.

So I'll kick this off with a statement he made back before Christmas. We were at a favorite local pizza joint, Fox's Pizza for dinner with a bunch of friends one night. True to their name they have a Fox for a mascot and the Fox was out and about greeting the kids. At one point during the evening Noah needed to go potty. On the way to the potty we spotted the Fox going in the ladies room.

Noah made the obvious statement, "Dad that fox is going potty."

"Yes son, even foxes have to go potty sometimes," I replied.

"That's silly dad."

"Why's that silly?"

"He should use the grass," Noah responded very seriously.

So there you go, my son's logic makes perfect sense. Foxes, like dogs, should use the grass. I could hardly keep a straight face...

A busy few months...

So it's been a busy few months between Noah getting more mobile and with work and family life. So we've been a little slow to update the blog. But now that I have it linked into Facebook so we'll see if we can keep up. We'll step back a few months here on the blog in the next few posts and catch everyone up.

Baby New Year

So Noah was unable to stay awake to ring in the new year so he had to wait till the next morning. I heard him ask his mother what a year was....he'll find out soon enough. He's 7 months today! Noah's hoping this year goes as good as the last....even though he doesn't remember all of it.

Santa visits Noah's house

Santa came to Noah's house and left lots of great goodies. Noah enjoyed unwrapping his gifts (especially the tissue paper).

Sittin' With Santa

Noah went to see Santa at Georgia Square Mall on Friday, December 19th. While we waited in line to see Santa Noah was reviewing with me all the things he wanted to talk to Santa about. When it was finally Noah's turn and he was sitting on Santa's lap he totally froze! He was unable to speak a word...only look at him in awe. Here's a picture that captures the moment...precious!

Noah visits Santa Paws

Noah made a special trip to see Santa Paws and tell him what he wanted for Christmas. Sean and I couldn’t hear all of the discussion but we did hear him ask for 2 front teeth, any vegetables other than squash, an endless bottle of milk, and lots of plastic toys to chew and spit up on. He also told him that overall he’d been nice other than the naughty times he’d woke his parents up at 3am just to see their smiling faces!

Noah’s 6 month check-up!

Noah turned 6 months old on December 2, 2008. We took him to see Dr. Sprayberry for a check-up and to get his 6 month shots. Our little guy is growing so quickly! He is now 16lbs 2oz and 29in long. He’s in the 25th percentile for weight and 90th percentile for height…long and lean like his daddy! A small ear infection kept us from getting shots at this visit but we will return again in a week to finish the job.

Finding the Turkey

Where's the turkey? Thanksgiving is tomorrow so we had to go hunting a turkey. We found this one down the road at Washington Farms. But I'm not sure which one is the real turkey. :)

St Mary's Fall Festival

St. Mary's Hospital held a fall festival for all babies born this year at the hospital. Missy took pumpkin Noah to hang out with the lions, lobsters, peapods, and other creatures. Noah made lots of new friends! They paraded all the kids through the birthing center and Noah got to see his delivery team.....including Dr. Jarrett. Overall it was a good day for them.

4 month checkup

Noah went for his 4 month checkup and everything was good. He still doesn't like the shots. (but he sleeps really good the night after the shots). He's in the 75th percentile for height and 25th for weight.

A Pumpkin in the Patch

We went to pick out our first family pumpkin today and Noah dressed the part. He was delighted to see all the pumpkins and tried to pick out one his size. (Beware of the next pumpkin you get....it may have been drooled on by our little one.)

Fall is here!

So fall is here and Missy and Noah went to the fall festival with our friends Katie and little Eddie. (Big Ed and I stayed back to work on his deck.) Noah was decked out in his Pumpkin costume and had a great time at the festival with his mommy. As you can see he was one pooped pumpkin by the end of the day.

Noah's First Braves Game!

So we took Noah to his first Braves game Saturday night. (Second to last game of the season.) We had a blast and the little man enjoyed the fireworks after the show. The Braves loved him too! Some folks from the Braves publicity group spotted him and asked us for our permission to photograph him and us. They took probably 20 or so photos from various angles while we were sitting in the stands. So who knows, maybe he'll be on a billboard or in an ad in the AJC next year! The Braves won; so that was a nice ending to a great time.

Making More Memories At The Lake...

The rest of Noah's trip included meeting his uncle Ryan, and brunch on the waterfront. Thanks for having us Papa and Granna! We all had a great time!

Noah's First Boat Trip!

Noah made is first trip to Granna and Papa's place on Lake Arrowhead this past weekend. We took the boat out and had a full day on the water. It was so much fun. Though little man never actually made it in the water, he had a good time chillin' on the boat with everyone. Here are a few of our favorite photos. Sean got a real kick out of Noah in his lifevest. Doesn't he look sporty?!

Noah Starts School- Mother's Morning Out

Our church (my work) hosts our county's only Mother's Morning Out Program. Sean and I decided to enroll Noah in the program so he could have a few hours of socialization each week and be close to me at work. We were excited when we got Noah's acceptance letter earlier this summer. Little man is the youngest student at MMO (only by a month though) and mainly sleeps the entire time right now but we are looking forward to seeing him grow and learn new things during this school year. Here are a few pictures of Noah on his first day, August 28th. His teachers are Mrs. Jodi and Mrs. Brenda. As you can see in the first photo he was doing a great job of melting his teacher's heart right away when he arrived. He turned on the Hessenthaler charm for the big day!
